Madiston Preston, current Junior at UCLA, and one of the top competitors on Vault on UCLA’s gymnastics roster, has retired from competing in gymnastics due to injury.
When the athlete was missing from the gymnastics team’s group photo taken on Monday, many fans questioned why she wasn’t there. The official Twitter account of UCLA Gymnastics reported that Preston had in fact, retired. The good news is that she will stay on the team as a manager.
Preston was last seen competing as a Bruin at the 2017 NCAA National Championships in St. Louis, MO, where she competed on Vault with a score of 9.6.
During the regular season, Preston managed to receive a 9.95 on her Yurchenko layout full, which was the start value of the vault, meaning she executed it perfectly.
She will definitely be missed.
