Future Bruin Emma Malabuyo has pulled out of the GK Classic competition this weekend due to an injury she suffered this week.
Malabuyo posted an update on her Instagram account stating that she fractured her tibia and will be having surgery on Tuesday to repair it.
Malabuyo said that she is “tremendously devastated and heartbroken” over what happened. Not only will she not be able to compete at the Classic, but the injury has forced her to pull out of nationals this year, as well.
We wish Malabuyo a speedy recovery.

Really wanted to show this🔝 Unfortunately, I will not be able to compete at the GK Classic this weekend or Championships this year due to an injury I suffered this week. On Tuesday, I will have surgery to repair a fractured tibia. I’m tremendously devastated and heartbroken over this. However, gymnastics has taught me to reset and persist through the tough times. I’m beyond thankful to have all my friends, family, and coaches by my side. Looking forward to healing and recovering.
