Future Bruin Frida Esparza Makes Mexico’s Worlds Team

Future Bruin, Frida Esparza, was selected to be a part of the 2019 Worlds Team for Mexico. However, according to her coach, she was selected as the traveling alternate, so she will likely not compete at the championships in Stuttgart, Germany.

Esparza did not compete at this year’s Pan Am games nor this year’s nationals competition in Mexico due to injuries and wanting to prepare for worlds. It is likely that they are making her the traveling alternate because she is still coming off of those injuries and might not be one hundred percent ready just yet.

The rest of the Mexican Worlds Team includes 2016 Olympian Alexa Moreno, 2012 Olympian Elsa Garcia, Ana Lago, and the Gutierrez twins.

The 2019 World Championships are set to take place Oct. 4-13.
