Secretly, Brooklyn Moors has been California dreamin’.
And on a winter’s day back in Cambridge, the 17-year-old Dynamo gymnast was at UCLA in Los Angeles last weekend making a verbal commitment to the 2018 NCAA national gymnastics champions.
Verbally accepting a full scholarship offer for 2020 – waiting until after the Tokyo Olympics – the Cambridge native could join the likes of other city gymnasts, Yvonne Tousek and Aisha and Mikaela Gerber, as UCLA Bruins alumnae. All four have, at one time, been coached by Elvira Saadi.
Brooklyn Moors announced on Instagram today that she has verbally committed to UCLA on a full scholarship for the 2020-2021 season.
A 17-year-old elite gymnast from Canada, Moors has high hopes of making the Canadian Olympic team in 2020, therefore will be deferring her enrollment to UCLA until fall of 2020.
Moors attended the UCLA vs USC football game this past weekend at Rose Bowl Stadium where she posed for a picture with next year’s freshmen gymnasts.
Moors made her international debut at the 2017 World Championships where she placed fifth in the Floor Exercise finals and 15th in the All-Around competition.
Moors also competed at the 2018 World Championships in Doha where she helped the Canadian team to a fourth-place finish and placed eighth in Floor Exercise finals.
